Suisun City, California
Big News: Updated Vision for Growth & Opportunity
Hey #Suisun community — we’re entering a new chapter! The California Forever team has revisited their long-term vision for our region, and this time it looks a little different and a lot more collaborative.
Here’s what’s new:
Instead of aiming to build a completely new city from scratch, the plan has shifted to expanding Suisun City’s boundaries to the east, incorporating up to ~22,873 acres of adjacent land for mixed-use housing, jobs, open space and infrastructure.
The development would roll out in phases: first targeting housing for ~150,000 people, ultimately building toward a population of around 400,000 over multiple decades.
One major shift: rather than bypassing local governance altogether, the new approach emphasizes working with Suisun City through formal agreements including a
reimbursement agreement in which California Forever will pay initial costs and commit public-benefit payments of up to $10 million if annexation moves forward.
Key design goals: walkable neighborhoods, affordable homes, a manufacturing/industry hub, and a downtown that supports local businesses and community life.
What’s next: Environmental review. Community input. A process that could take years before any final decisions. Suisun City is asking residents to stay engaged.
